The universe’s function is very similar to that of a video game, so I will begin by describing it as such.

The game takes place in a land where darkness and light exist in a gradient, with pure darkness at the bottom and pure light at the top. Each player spawns in with a tower. The objective of the game is to build your tower high enough that light is all you can see.

There is a permanent and a temporary way to build a tower. Players that believe in pure light build their towers with permanent building blocks, and receive building blocks more consistently. Players that believe that light must always come with some darkness build their towers with temporary building blocks, and receive building blocks more sporadically.

To explain in more literal terms, the gradient of darkness to light is that of not knowing oneself to knowing oneself. We all, consciously or not, live in pursuit of the value we embody. The things we enjoy, we enjoy because we can see ourselves in them, and vice versa with the things we don’t enjoy. If a person believes that the pleasure of doing things they enjoy, the pleasure of seeing themselves, is something that they are always meant to feel, and live their life accordingly, then they will continue to experience things that they enjoy. But if a person believes that pleasure is something that is only meant to be felt sometimes, or only meant to be earned by experiencing pain, then that will be the reality they experience.

In game terms, temporary blocks crumble when there is shade, while permanent blocks remain. The increased darkness that comes from shade and from the fall after a temporary block crumbles can cause a player to accumulate weights. These weights make it harder for a player to believe in pure light. A weight can only be removed when a player denies its validity and chooses to believe in pure light instead.

In other words, there are times in our life when we encounter hardship. These times are meant to expose the beliefs we have that are not grounded in truth, but sometimes they just traumatize us instead. This trauma makes it even harder for us to see the truth, but it can be overcome if a person has the strength and guidance to see not what their negative emotion is telling them, but what their heart knows is true instead.

Returning to game terms, the gradient of darkness to light is split into four different worlds: hell, purgatory, earth, and heaven. The difference between the worlds is how much light a player can see at their best. However tall a player’s permanent blocks are determines which world they’re in. In hell, a player can see 1% of all the light there is. This world is largely theoretical, extremely few players spawn in here. In purgatory, a player can see 10% of all the light there is. There are still very few players that spawn in here, but some earth players can be pushed down to this world by their weights. In earth, a player can see 75% of all the light there is. This is where the vast majority of players spawn in, and where some heavenly players can be pushed down to by their weights. In heaven, a player can see 100% of all the light there is, an amount that is ever-increasing. Roughly 10% of players spawn in here. The reason players spawn in different worlds is because different players want to experience different things.

To put it plainly, there are two different kinds of people on earth. The difference between these people is how much value they can see in the world; specifically in how much value they can see in life. The truth is that all living things are valuable, simply because they are alive. However, for the majority of the world, value is something that only some living things have, and often only have sometimes. The living things that are useful, or interesting, or beautiful have value, and the living things that do not serve a purpose, or cause damage, do not have value. Value is earned based on behavior and identity, rather than seen regardless of these things. While this is less than ideal, it is also an unavoidable truth. The average person does not see inherent value in life, and has no way of gaining this ability. Those who genuinely see all life as valuable are in the minority. These people are not better than the majority, or favored by the system, they simply have a different preference of how to experience life on earth than the average person.
